The Unpunished is an intriguing and suspenseful thriller fusing both science, technology and politics in a unique Nordic and European setting and with a unique take on Artificial Intelligence.

Through both a TV-Series and a Video Game it is a journey into the very near future, offering a foresight of the consequences caused by the merging of human minds with technology, resulting in the birth of a computer capable of thinking like a human: an Artifical Intelligence.

The story follows a series of fascinating and intriguing characters; the people directly involved with – and affected by – the development of an Artificial Intelligence during a silent Third World War – A Cyber War. This group of the most extraordinary people must deal with extraordinary problems and dilemmas, which fundamentally changes how they see, not only themselves, but also the very definition of life. With Faustian ambition they will explore, discover, battle and overcome every obstacle – including themselves and each other.

The story aims to answer some of the biggest questions through a fascinating ensemble of characters: What drives us towards creating the foundation of our own extinction? Will we need to change the definition of life? It is the story of how one invention – the last invention – brings out both the best and the worst in human beings – and perhaps ends the human era.

The story takes place in and around the imagined Abisko Research Center (ARC), located in the harsh but beautiful Abisko National Park in Northern Sweden due to its remoteness and cold climate. The modernity and coldness of the computer research facility is contrasted by ancient Swedish mountains and raw arctic nature. This beautiful backdrop offers ‘horizon’ to a story that looks inward to find the abyss within the human condition.
